Open Question: best truck for a small mobile welding business?

I'm looking into getting an older truck to start a mobile welding side business. I was an industrial welder for about two years before switching over to QA inspection and would like to receive back into welding as my possess side job. I'm looking at older (85 and down) chevys, fords, and dodge 1 or 3/4 ton pickups (F250, 2500 series) with utility bodies on them. The reason I'm looking for older trucks is that I want to be able to do most of the major work on it myself, since I cant really afford to bring it to a store every time a sensor goes down, and I dont have computer diagnostic equipment to take care of systems like ABS, airbags, etc. My question here is what is the best truck/engine setup for my purposes. I'm looking for reliability and torque as my top priorities. I'm not planning on going too quick, but would like to keep up with highway traffic (even 60mph is fine). I'm torn between going with a straight six or a V8. I think the straight 6 would be better torque and reliability wise. I would like 4wd, but I think I can make do with a 2wd. The welding equipment I estimate to be in the half ton range, and I would like to eventually expand into towing as a secondary field (car and horse transport, short distance). I currently have a 92 Jeep Comanche with the 4.0 six which I absolutely adore, but the truck doesnt have the capacity I need and since it's a unibody construction I cant put a utility bed on it. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Voting Question: Did i make the right decision leaving my job to clear my conscience?

Several months ago i worked for a very big supply/hire company that generates much of its profit from renting out the industrial equipment required to use its products. My job role involved resolving disputes over customer's holdings of rented equipment ie. stock checks, raising invoices to cover loss or theft etc. The system used to record and invoice exchanging and hiring equipment was quite complex and as a result mistakes were often made by both the supplier and the customer, especially with regard to paperwork (delivery notes etc). In the 2 years i worked for the company it became apparent that a big proportion of its customers were paying rental on equiptment they no longer had, or had never had but had failed to notice due to the complexity of the rental system (its difficult to explain without naming the company and product in question). In some cases, this had been going on for over 10 years! I would often arrive across such cases and was instructed by my superiors to ignore them, unless the customer themselves had noticed the mistake. In a legal sense, i was told there was nothing wrong with this because every charges were itemised on the invoice and that it was the customer responsibility to check it was correct before paying it, and if they failed to spot the mistake but paid it anyway it was their possess fault. The fact the invoices were very confusing was irrelevant (experienced employees would often state this was done deliberately to maximise profit). With the arrival of the credit crunch the effect of this 'if its legal its ok' overcharging had devastating effects on many of my employer's customers (who were manufacturers themselves). As an employee of the company i enforced these unfair policies, policies i certainly opposed. The hipocracy of it led me to quit my job. 4 months down the line i am unemployed and still looking for a job while struggling with some debt. Did i make the right decision? What would you have done in the same situation?

Resolved Question: three phase vs single phase chargers?

I would like the help from an electrician. Is there any advantage to running industrial battery chargers that are three phase vs. single phase? We are converting at my work and I was wandering what advantages we might realize but the web sights I am finding on the subject are over my head. The reason we are converting is because we just came into some three phase chargers (from closing centers) that are an upgrade from what we have been using but is there any advantage to just running three vs. single phase equipment? I am not sure if this will change anything but they are 480V chargers charging 48V, 36V, and 24V batteries. Its looking like there is no real advantage past the fact that the chargers are better than our old ones. Let me know if anyone disagrees with this...

Voting Question: when will china overtake us (i have some estimates based on stats and doubling times/exponential, wat u think?

Assuming the US grows on average in the next 10 years at 3.7% and China grows at 10%. then China will reach the size of the US economy by 2020. This year, China will be half the size of the US economy. If you calculate based on both growth rates and it is assumed they remain the same, then China's doubling time (when GDP will double from current GDP) is 7 years. That means that in 7 years China will be the same size as the economy of the US this year. However, due to our possess growth, our doubling time will be 17 something years...But that is nice of irrelevent. If you take the GDP of the US to be 100 (some arbitrary number)...in 7 years it will be 128. This means China/US GDP ratio will be 100/128. So the US will still be ahead. However, if the growth rate then continues, in 3 years, China overtakes the US as the largest economy in the world. Assuming that other nations such as malaysia, vietnam and in general india and southeast asia start competing with china's industrial base. China could decide to sell its dollars and allow the yuan to fluctuate laise-faire. This way, its citizens would have more purchasing power than before, and it will be an incentive to buy foreign goods elsewhere in asia and india. This will mean that the domestic production, if any of the local consumption increases (expected to reach 40%), that such a local consumption will remain, but that the increase in purchasing power will mean increased spending elsewhere in asia and hence standard of living. A yuan appreciation however, would likely be controlled, in order not to contract its production in foreign exports. Foreign exports are likely to decrease by say 30%, but consumption is likely to increase many times fold, and thusly, service based and innovative based companies that could potentially make up for such a contraction. This is especially the case because if China becomes a consumer and is the same size by 2020, selling its dollars will make interest rates in the states increase exponentially and hence decrease the stock market and commodity markets. This would mean less tax revenue and increased spedning that will further add to a deficit and hence interest rate increase, until the US economy and its bussiness...such as services and innovative sectors will move to China which will have a more favorable credit enviroment...filling the 30% decrease in foreign exports... So China could produce most products, have a consumer society with appreciation of yuan by buying from other asian nations and gain US innovation and service based companies. Perhaps this is the strategy economically. Militarily, I beleive perhaps around the early 2020's China may decide to invade Taiwan, which given the US's demise and reluctance to fend off China's invasion due to debt, especially to China itself, which will announce to the world China as the new emergent super-power. Given the military spending in hardware it will spend between now and 2020, and its good economic status to spend on military equipment...the US may become its main partner and exporter of military industrial products such as tanks, aircraft, etc. The US, given the deficit and dramatic clip-backs in spending, perhaps entailing entitlements...will mean that cuts in defense spending will be a given. Slowly military bases will be clip as US loses its influence and in many cases will need China's monetary help to keep them running. And hence I look the US selling military equipment to China as a real possibility, although Russia will be a close competitor. Nasa and its commercialization will mean China will be able to purchase these innovative based commercial sectors, and use them to catapult itself as the superpower with space-supermacy...as many defense systems in space from the US are slowly phased out due to cuts in spending. By 2030, China and an asian nexus will be the main economic and militaristic superpower, while Europe, ridden with a default on debts a decade earlier and an explosion of the euro that led to an appreciation of the dollar and greater debt in the US ...dominoe effect of western defaults called the 'currency crisis' ...will mean that China will have increased responsibility to ensure economic security in the world and tug its western neighbores out of the recession, in some extent or another. NASA commercialized recently due to budgeting issues, and that means that it can use any coutrny or corproation in order to acheive its goals..In other words, its talent can be availabe for money if certain criteria and goals are acheived... second northrop grunman and boeing would likely move their manufacturing to China to increase profits as unfavoralbe social policies, perhaps social unrest and higher interest rates in the 20's will push them over there.

Resolved Question: Did they have special industrial strength gym equipment on The Biggest Loser to hold people over 400 lbs?

I'm not trying to be silly or rude at every. I was at the gym earlier today and noticed on every of the new equipment that was just added, there is a weight restriction of 400 lbs which is posted on the machines. I know some of the contestants on The Biggest Loser weighed over 400 lbs at the start of the season (I only watched 1 season) so I was wondering if the show had to use special equipment for the contestants. Again, I'm not trying to be rude or insensitive to anyone overweight.

Resolved Question: What is your opinion on 3 Mexicans sent to prison for stealing?

Three Mexican citizens have been sentenced to U.S. federal prison for their roles in stealing heavy equipment and selling it to people in Central America, authorities said today. A fourth man, a Houston resident, is scheduled to be sentenced later this year, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Houston. Federal authorities said that Victor Antonio Garcia, 27, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison and ordered to pay $380,000 in restitution; Rito Jasso-Zorilla, 32, was sentenced to three years and five months in prison and ordered to pay $12,056 in restitution; and Orlando Gonzalez Huerta, 29, was sentenced two years in prison. Yuri David Melendez, 42, of Houston, is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 16. He faces up to five years in prison for his role in the scheme as well as up to life prison on a separate conviction for narcotics trafficking. Federal officials said that Melendez received requests from contacts in Central America for the purchase of stolen tractor trucks, trailers, tankers and other heavy equipment. Melendez targeted equipment at Houston-area industrial and commercial sites and then recruited others to helped steal it and transport it to Central America, usually Honduras and Guatemala. They would steer the purloined equipment to staging locations close Edinburg and then take it to Central America. The customers paid Melendez after the equipment arrived, federal officials said. The scheme began in about 2001. Melendez was arrested in January at his Houston home and he pleaded guilty in May http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/6686784.html

Resolved Question: Would you vote for me?

Still a work in progress, but here it goes -National Gov.- Fiscal (Domestic) 13 % National Flat Tax States have the ability to levy any other form of taxes Fiscal (International) Congress has the ability to negotiate and set trade rules and restrictions against hostile countries. Vital products such as food and energy are subject to protectionists policies. No international trade organizations which would compromise this ability, though general principles of laissez faire capitalism would still be the rule, just not uncompromising law. -Foreign Affairs- NATO was designed with a specific purpose which has been completed, making it outdated, thus a new military alliance should be established to replace it, consisting of America’s fewer but truer allies. Reduce participation in international organizations and treaties. Pay back debt owned to other countries. -Health care- Since any blanket plan that covers a political region as diverse as the entire US would be inefficient, states have the sole ability to set up any system of healthcare (private or state government) for themselves, designed to meet any special needs or unique circumstances of the state. -Welfare- The form of such would be limited only to unemployment (which requires 7 resumes sent a week, and effort to regain a job), disability (those who physically or mentally can not work), or temporary welfare for those with jobs who encounter "bad times", the service lasting more than 6 months, no exceptions. General welfare will be replaced with workfare. Where the state provides jobs that are made for the unskilled and the work is generally unfavorable, consisting of manual labor, contract work, creating state use only items, or environmental work (city/beach clean up projects), pay would be based on results. There will also be more feminine related jobs for single mothers to participate in instead. Half the wages will be held by the state in an account for the participant once the individual leaves the program. ¼ of the wages will be paid to the state to supply shelter, food, water, as well as educational or skill based programs to the individual. The last ¼ is free for recreational use. Drug use is not permitted while on the program. -Social- Abortion, euthanasia, gay marriage, and other social items will be decided by the states via propositions -Crime- No automatic repeal in capital cases (you can still repeal for mistakes and flaws). Electrocution and other forms of punishment brought back and allowed if desired by the state, sentence carried out within 3 years after sentencing (for every new cases, not older ones). Length of incarceration for every non capital felonies need to be reduced, while removing TVs, weight training equipment, coffee, and any other luxury items that are not conducive to reducing recidivism. Saves money with fewer years of incarceration and less required commodities, the money saved can be pocketed or placed into rehabilitative programs. Establish a law enforcement agency that routinely patrols both borders and oceans. -Immigration- Ban on every immigrants who possess incurable infectious diseases or excessive/violent criminal records. To assure greater integration and to prevent societal marginalization of immigrants, proficient English is a requirement. Expand work visas for every law abiding and difficult working immigrants. Increase the quota for Mexican immigrates. -MISC- receive the US back to a factory/industrial based economy, by whatever means possible. I didn't change or clip unemployment from what it is now, I have no current suggestions for any modifications for unemployment, so the current system that operates below Obama is what I would still operate below, until I can figure a more apporpirate meausre. I merely suggested a replacement of the welfare system. Please don't put words in my mouth.

Resolved Question: Why does the power substation near my home make loud explosion noises (followed by a brief outage) all the tim?

I don't know exactly what type of substation it is, but it is not a big one (doesn't look like any one works there) but it is your typical series of towers and odd looking power equipment. What is unnerving (besides just living next to it generally) is that at certain times of the year, great booming explosion noises will arrive from it. I suspect it is some nice of industrial-sized fuse blowing (and not something to worry about), but I am very curious because it is VERY noisy, and always followed by a brief (1 - 5 second) outage of electricity. Anyone know?

Resolved Question: What exactly is the problem with a motorcycle co just making motorcycles?

Why is it that its OK for a 2nd rate snowmobile maker to put out a motorcycle with a Kohler industrial engine, and why is it OK for Yamaha to make engines for Ford and Its OK for Suzuki to supposedly make engines for Hyosung and its OK for Honda & Kawasaki to make lawn equipment, and its OK for every 4 to put out marine engines but when Porsche lent some engineering to Harley Davidson, the bashers and trashers of HD scream bloody murder???? Why is it that some people just have to have their panties in a wad about Harley just making motorcycles, finally coming out with liquid cooloing and being good at it? --thats liquid cooling... Yes, there are the purists. I am one although I do think the Revolution motor is the cats meow. -I will ride my A/C Heritage until I can no longer receive parts for rebuilds and that will be a very long time. To hell with the EPA. It matters not the level of collaboration from Porsche; it pales in comparison. I'm talking about production, not accessories or profit margins or business models...or tshirts. You can't receive an overpriced Tshirt in a Honda store? yes you can. I would call the offering of accessories for the one and only product that is being made diversification. -and about Kohler?" Victory Motorcycles hopes to broaden its model line to include other classes of bikes. In 1995 the company hired engine designer Mark Bader, then with Kohler, a maker of industrial engines in Kohler, Wis" http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/1998/08/03/246306/index.htm (bowling pins? -thats just plain dumbass) silly, the hipocrisy that comes from some, complaining about antiquated barely passable engine design but that same engine has been copied by 95% of every motorcycle manufacturer on the planet that makes "cutting edge" bikes. Passable by whose standards?? Now who is elitist? Even when HD reacts to what the market asked for even if they went out of home, (so what?) Again a case of its only OK for some other company. -some people just cannot be pleased. BTW: Iaccoca was a failure at Ford before he was a failure at Chrysler...a mediocre metallurgist at best. Yeah, airplanes people aren't afraid to fly in.... I guess you weren't aware that Saddam Hussein bought Mitsubishi fighters that his pilots used to kill U.S. military personnel & civilian workers... And you apparently forgot the Bataan death march was made by slave labor for the company now known as Kawasaki. -good job rooting for what some would call an foe. I guess I should have stipulated: No trolls please.... Oh, make no mistake: I'm having a blast on my bike. I just don't understand the need for those who think they know more than the relax of us to go trying to apply a double-standard. I know I am on the right bike. -and will be for years and years... Sorry BB, nice try mushmouth... this is not a rant. Understand the question at hand: It seems fine and dandy for every other Mfr's to build and help engineer everything else in the world but when Harley did it with Porsche for the V-rod engine everyone had a freaking cow about it and cried foul. It seems like HD gets second-guessed at every turn. Why? Nobody said boo about the works cited and the other examples the respondents have graciously supplied; Doesn't Harley deserve the same accolades the other makers have gotten for their efforts too??? Yes. -And no, HD does not build golf carts. That was back in the AMF days.....gawwd. Uhh, if I have it bass ackwards with Hyosung & Suzuki: I stand corrected....

Resolved Question: Can Someone correct this please I really need your help?

The purpose of this plant tour is to expose the students particularly the BSBA-Management Accounting III taking up Production & Operations Management with wider experiences, knowledge and skills with different techniques involved in manufacturing through actual plant visits located in Manila; to familiarize the students relative to the different activities involved in industrial operations; to enable the students understand the means by which modern industry moves its product concept toward production realities; and to promote camaraderie among BSBA-Management Accounting III students. This travelogue started when our Production & Operations Management adviser, Mrs. Fe Fernandine, told us that we would be having a plant tour in Manila, a pack of excitement embedded in our minds. Mixed emotions have crafted. She gave details about our tour and explained to why we should execute this activity. From the parents’ consultancy, every I can say, this was a good idea to have meeting between parents and faculty members. In the said meeting they had discussed the itinerary of the tour, the breakdown of expenditures, the lodging, and the bus for transportation. In our departure to Manila, the agreed time wasn’t followed. The only thing on my mind on that time was wear and tear of time and effort on the part of the faculty members and us students. When the buses had arrived, we were relieved from aches. It’s difficult to wait for something that has no assurance to arrive. And it was 9.30 p.m., blah blah blah, the buses were not moving. I’m sick with it. At passed 10:00 p.m., we moved out. The bus we were into ran roughly because of rollercoaster rail-liked road. It’s breath taking. I don’t like the music played in our bus. It’s nice of freaking noise. So noisy, some of us couldn’t snooze peacefully because of it. First cease over, second, third, so on and so forth. As I looked out to my time, it was passed 6:00 in the morning when we had arrived at Manila. Ambassadors Hotel, good name of a building, but its amenities are not as nice as its name. The rules and regulations are imposed by the hotel management, so we don’t have no reasons to blame our advisers for that matters. These are the excerpt of the hotel’s guidelines: No bringing of electrical appliances; the curfew hours (from 8pm to 4am); wearing shorts and pajamas while roaming around within the hotel is not allowed, but some of our classmates violated this rule and yet the room service crews didn’t make any action concerning it; and about the room amenities are really alarming, it’s costly, especially the unit costs of the beds, beddings, TV, closet and etc. The food was great but the attendants were not. They didn’t show some courteousness and they kept on cringing with each other while serving our food. It’s blameworthy. During our last night at the ambassadors hotel, it’s unhappy to say, some students showed disgracefulness towards the men room service crews. As patrons, we should also show some respect even though we were their customers and do what was only acted upon us and don’t go beyond it. February 4 at 11:00 am, we departed from the hotel. The first plant we visited was at the Lamoiyan Corporation. Honestly this was my first plant I ever visited in my entire life. It’s nice, clean and quite tiny. They showcased their firm through viewing some videos about the Lamoiyan Co. and their success through out the country. Our speaker told something about the corporation and it every started when the previous company of Mr. Cecilio K. Pedro, Aluminum Container Inc., manufacturer of aluminum tubes closed down. By 1985, toothpaste giants began using plastic laminated tubes. Although this caused Mr. Pedro to close his factory, he realized his old equipment could still be put to good use by forging into the Philippines toothpaste market on his possess. Two years later, he reopened his factory as Lamoiyan Corporation, now known as the manufacturer of toothpaste brands’ Hapee and Kutitap. The discussion was so informative for us students, the consumers. And it was our first time to know that some household care and personal care products such as Dazz (dishwashing glue and liquid), Fresher and Gumtect are below the ownership Lamoiyan and no doubt how this corporation created a tight bound between their consumers, we Filipinos. After the visit, we’ve been to Mall of Asia for our leisure. February 5. Next, the SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance) Philippines at Makati City, Metro Manila. Despite the fact that we were not being able to visit there, because it was randomly selected, some concern students relayed their experiences at the SGS Phils. SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company. It’s recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity. It provides inspection, verification, testing and certification through some services like agricultural, mineral and etc. They said it was the highlight of the tour but we were not

Resolved Question: Career advice/ what move should I take next to again score a success.?

I am graduate Mechanical engineer(year2000) from Pakistan.Worked 7 years in HVAC&R/industrial plant machinery maintenance profession (more people focused) in Pakistan,Saudi arabia but switched over 7 industries staying not more than an average of 1 year in any job. My motivation was always learning and search for ideal job rather higher salary. Than I did masters in Technical management from germany(year 2008) and also got a job as application engineer for rotating equipment manufacturer in germany. But the job lasted only for 8 months and fired affected by economical crunch. Got married and moved to join my partner in Australia who is junior medical doctor by profession, luckily with a job. Since I arrived here in Australia searching for jobs firstly only for HVACR and now oil and gas reliability engineer or maintenance engineer. I could succeed to score job interviews you can say 10 telephonic interviews for 50 applications. I hired one HR professional who fixed my conventional resume into highly moderinsed according to Aussie standards for 350$ but that could not even helpful for my case. I am listening tv news that unemployment rate is lowered in australia now upto 5.8 somewhere, and the economical turmoil (which had not effected Australia as per local governement) is finsihed now in Australia. I am totally exhausted, frustrated, bored and feeling regretful for moving into Australia. Am confused what to do? where should I go, should I do another masters from local uni or trade diploma course from TAFE which I found in most preferable for local job requirements, or from Germany Uni which is cheaper and previously lucky for receiving such a nice job with good paid salary, benifits, sent me to canada for three months (wow)!!, or shall I change my career purely in mining (best in Australia) at this age of 32 years old. Donot know what to do? Please help me someone out there. If you can hear my voice Plsssssssssss!

Resolved Question: During WW II, America's industrial might was our advantage?

As the Japanese planned the attack on Pearl Harbor, Nagumo and Yamamoto warned that "America's industrial might is AWESOME", and that any attack short of a "total victory" would only "awaken a sleeping giant". The attack on Pearl Harbor was not a "total victory", and it was only a matter of weeks before many ships had been repaired and returned to service. Throughout the war, our ability to produce arms, Sherman Tanks, jeeps, and "Liberty Ships" faster than the foe could destroy them wore down and exhausted the limited resources of Nazi Germany and Japan. America's major advantage was our ability to swing from commercial to military production EN MASS. As a tactic, the first goal of bombardment is to destroy INDUSTRY so a nation can't supply armaments and equipment. Post WW II, Japan has become an industrial power player, as has Germany, China, and other former Soviet countries. However, America has DE-industrialized due to a combination of expensive unionized labor and "environmental" regulations. Factories are closing, skilled labor is disappearing, and our ability to manufacture is a FRACTION of what it once was. Without dropping a single bomb, or "enemies" now face an America that has effectively "bombed" their possess industrial base into nonexistence. We have given away our key military advantage! 1. Do you look the de-industrialization of America as a risk? 2. What do you think is required to re-establish our manufacturing base? 3. Would you support the abolition of "union" labor if that was identified as the key reason why manufacturing in the US is impossible due to competing economic reasons?

Resolved Question: How is it that two company shares have overshot the others in less than one year?

How is it that TATA and Strilite have had a growth from Rs 150 to Rs 900/- in less than one year? The nano, advertized in the government newspapers as a low priced car, did not meet expectations, and some ridiculously priced versions are now put up for sale. Other companies like British Physical Laboratories with superior products and performace have loewr share value and smaller change in share price. Since share value reflects the company value, it is not correct to find that Tata Jamshedpur and Strilite have a 6 time rise in share value in less than one year, while companies like Leela Palace (Indian culture and heritage), KingFisher (UB group), Eveready and Exide (the most trusted batteries in India), Mirza (tanneries), Raymond (garments), and international names like Nestle (Baby feeds), L&T (critical equipment), Siemens (Home and industrial equiptment), and others that server the average Indian to everyone's satisfaction has only less than 50% to 100% rise in share value. I do not think, two companies shooting up in India reflects fairness in the Indian government, and early investigation will cease any major economic or criminal event that disturbs the country. With Mittal Steels looking into Karnataka for iron ore and its related activities, after the failed Kudremukh project, one wonders whether SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd.) is monitoring the events as of now and the plans for tomorrow with a technical eye and keeping accounting correct. OK, Supply and demand. I ask drivers, and they say, Tata Prerna has clutch problems as its body weight is too high. The ace does not have good pick up with heavy weight. Indica is good as a cab with some resale value. The nano was only hype, with no results, in contrast to Maruti Suzuki with top results in sales in India. Of course, its share value is twice Tata at gift, but its car value is good. I do not expect Tata to do well in shares, if every drivers I talk to say its vehicles displease them.

Resolved Question: Just HOW indebted are dems to repubs?

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffee pot with water to prepare his morning coffee. Joe can afford the coffee because corporate loving wealthy Republicans exported our jobs overseas with NAFTA and CAFTA. With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications work because money-grubbing Republicans refuse to place price controls on drugs, thereby allowing pharmaceutical companies to earn enough money to pay for the extensive R&D and take the risks necessary to create miracle drugs. But the drugs still cost too much because government mandated health insurance has artificially increased the demand for medications with no one to police the prices, but that’s OK since Joe’s Bush-supporting bossman pays every but $10 of Joe's medications. In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient, none of which are damaging to his skin because some animal-hating sadistic corporations paid some scientists to swab the shampoo in some needy rabbit’s eyes. Just for kicks. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some dollar-worshipping conservative developers built some nice houses with pretty yards 15 miles from the industrial sector of the city, and Joe drives his comfortable and affordable “Japanese” car made in Georgia without the inflated cost of union labor, and Joe can cease on his way home to pick up a package of reasonably priced T-shirts at the bad Wal-Mart, instead of having to park his car and take a dirty subway to pay twice as much downtown. Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because his parents instilled in him the value of difficult work so he studied when he was in school and learned that he could receive by just fine without relying on the government. Joe's employer pays these benefits because Joe's employer knows Joe’s a valuable employee and Joe’s employer doesn’t want him to go work for his competitor. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll receive another job pretty quick because he’s a self-starting go getter who has a lot of friends at church and from college that he can call to find more work. It's noontime and Joe would need to make a bank deposit but doesn’t need to go to a bank because bad monopolist Bill Gates helped make computers useable to the general public and he can automatically pay bills thanks to the economies of scale of Bank of America or Wachovia installing the expensive equipment to allow Joe this convenience. While Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC, Joe doesn’t have to worry about Democrats in Congress pulling the carpet out from below the real estate market again like they did in the 80s. At least Joe hopes they learned their lesson. Joe pays a low rate mortgage because Americans voted for that war monger Ronald Reagan in 1980 and Bill Clinton had the good sense to reappoint Alan Greenspan. And Joe can afford a nicer home, not only just because of the low mortgage rates, but also because he gets to keep more of his difficult earned money because Republican Presidents in the 1980s and in 2001 clip his taxes. After work this evening, Joe plans to visit his dad at his farm home in the country that Joe’s dad still owns because his landed-gentry Republican County Commissioners have refused to steal his land in the name of a higher tax base. Joe gets in his car for the steer because the government added additional lanes to the local highways that people actually use instead of throwing money away on a regional rail system that studies project people would little use. Joe gets to his home in record time because death-loving Republicans allow you to go 65 and 70 mph, and you can because pollution loving Republicans don’t make you plug your car in overnight so you can steer for 2 hours at a maximum speed of 20 mph. Joe arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the home, but he doesn’t because when his grandparents moved to the United States they learned to talk English and didn’t spend their time complaining about how the government wasn’t doing enough for them. The home didn't have electricity until some military-industrial power company plopped a big ol’ nuclear power plant over by the river. Joe is glad to look his dad, so they go to the local bar and like a beer and a cigar, where Joe’s dad tells him that if the estate tax is repealed, Joe can keep the farm in the family for a fourth generation and won’t have to sell it to pay the taxes. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on NPR. The reporters keep telling stories about how bad corporations only care about profit and that higher taxes will allow the government to “invest” in our future. They don’t mention that the beloved Democrats have vilified the very people who have provided us jobs, good and services from their sma
